Gantt View

The Gantt view helps you inspect project timelines visually. It focuses on scheduled work, so it shows tasks with a start date or deadline and milestones with due dates.

Opening the Gantt view

Open Tasks in the app and switch the subview to Gantt. The chart opens with the current time period and loads the work that belongs to the visible range.

What the chart shows

  • Each task is shown as a scheduled bar using its stored start date and deadline when available
  • Milestones are shown as milestone markers on their due date
  • Dependencies between visible tasks are connected with lines
  • Hovering a task highlights the visible dependency chain around it
  • Tasks without any schedule dates are not shown in this view

Moving through time

Use the combined overview timeline scrubber to move the visible window to another period. Drag the scrubber body to pan across time, or drag its edges to zoom in and out. When you drag a task bar, the chart moves the real bar directly so you can place it where you want. Drag the left edge if you want to resize the start date, or drag the right edge if you want to resize the deadline instead. Edge resizing follows the exact visible border position at the current zoom level, even when part of a task is outside the visible time window. If you keep dragging beyond the current visible window, the schedule continues moving or resizing instead of stopping at the viewport border. On smaller screens, you can still scroll the chart horizontally and vertically to inspect the visible schedule. The left task list also prioritizes the task name on smaller screens and moves the scheduled date underneath it so labels stay readable.

Changing schedules

If you can manage tasks in the current project, you can drag the whole task bar to move its schedule. Drag left edge if you want to resize only start date. Drag right edge if you want to resize only deadline. The chart saves those schedule changes back to the task automatically. Use the link action on a task bar if you want to add a visible dependency directly in the chart. Click a dependency line to inspect it and remove it when needed. Circular dependency chains are blocked automatically before the dependency is saved. If you only have view access, the chart stays read-only.
