Holiday Calendars

Holiday calendars show public and company holidays as read-only all-day entries in the Bnder calendar. They help teams see regional non-working days without turning holidays into normal busy events.

Enable Holidays for a Workspace

Workspace admins can configure holiday calendars from the app:

  1. Open the App.
  2. Go to workspace Settings.
  3. Select Calendar.
  4. Turn on Holiday calendars.
  5. Choose the workspace country and, when available, the region or state.
  6. Select the holiday types you want to show, including school holidays if your selected provider data supports them.

Calendar Manager can also configure the same workspace setting from Discord with /settings holidays. Use the country option for a two-letter country code such as DE or US, add a provider region code such as DE-BE or US-CA when you need state or regional holidays, and use include_school_holidays when school breaks should be synced for supported regions.

Bnder stores imported holidays in its backend and keeps curated fallback data for common regions in Germany, the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, and Switzerland, so your calendar can keep showing holidays even when an external holiday source is temporarily unavailable or incomplete.

School holidays have their own setting because they depend more heavily on regional provider data and can span multiple days. Choose a region when possible for the most accurate school holiday coverage.

If Bnder only has country-level data for your selected region, Calendar settings show a notice so you know regional holidays may be missing. If no imported holiday data is cached yet, custom company holidays can still appear.

If holiday provider metadata is temporarily incomplete, Bnder keeps your saved country or region visible in settings and marks it as metadata unavailable. You can leave it selected, change it, or switch to country-only holidays.

When you choose a task deadline or event date that falls on an enabled holiday, Bnder shows a warning in the editor. You can keep the date or use the suggested next business day when Bnder can calculate one. Task assignee and event invitee rows also warn when a specific person has a holiday on the selected date.

When Bnder suggests alternative meeting times, it avoids dates where invitees have enabled holidays.

Personal Region Overrides

If your team works across multiple regions, each member can use their own holiday region instead of the workspace default.

In your user settings, open the Calendar tab, enable the personal holiday region option, and choose your country and region. Your calendar then uses your personal region for holiday display.

You can also set or temporarily disable your personal region in Discord with /preferences holidays. Disabling it keeps your saved country and region so you can re-enable it later.

Show Holidays in Discord

Use /event holidays in Calendar Manager to list holidays for a date range. The command uses your effective personal or workspace region by default, and you can pass a country, region, or user when you want to check another holiday calendar.

Company Holidays

Workspace admins can add custom company holidays for dates such as shutdowns, offsites, planning days, or internal blackout days. Custom holidays can be one-day or multi-day dates, and they can apply to the whole workspace or only to selected project calendars.

Custom holidays appear alongside imported holidays and can be one-time or recurring yearly dates.

Hide or Rename Holidays

Imported holidays can be hidden or renamed for the workspace from the holiday entry menu in the calendar. This is useful when an official holiday is not relevant to your team or when you want a clearer internal label.

Workspace admins can review hidden or renamed imported holidays in workspace SettingsCalendar and restore them when needed. Bnder shows the cached holiday name and date when available.

Calendar Exports

Holiday calendars are shown inside the Bnder dashboard. Existing public calendar subscription URLs are unchanged.
