Plans and Seats
Bnder subscriptions are workspace-based and seat-based.
- A workspace can have Free, Starter, and Pro users at the same time.
- Paid access is assigned through pooled seats.
- Multiple workspace members can buy seats for the same workspace.
- A user without a paid seat stays on Free.
- A user with a paid seat gets the assigned tier:
- Starter seat -> Starter features
- Pro seat -> Starter and Pro features
What does a paid seat do?
A paid seat gives one user access to the paid features of that seat tier.
Some limits also scale at the workspace level when you add seats, such as:
- projects
- storage
- labels
- topics
- milestones
- event invitees
- public documents
- API usage
- logging webhook endpoints
Starter and Pro seat limits are added together for shared workspace limits. Pro-only capacities, such as customer-owned ticket mailboxes, grow from Pro seats only.
Storage usage details
The Plans & Seats page shows current usage for seat-scaled workspace limits, including storage and logging webhook endpoints. Use the storage details button to see where visible storage is used across file storage, task attachments, and ticket attachments. Each visible row can be opened so you can review the source item directly. Task and ticket rows can also be expanded to select only specific attachments for cleanup when you have delete permission for that source.
The panel respects permissions. If some storage belongs to files, tasks, or tickets you cannot access, Bnder groups those bytes as restricted or other storage instead of showing private names or attachment details. If a cleanup only partially succeeds, the panel lists the items that could not be cleaned up.
What is the difference between Starter and Pro?
Starter removes the most common friction:
- more projects and storage
- more labels, topics, milestones, and invitees
- workspace search
- full task comments and task history
- task subscribers
- AI label suggestions, todo suggestions, and auto labeling
- adding task comment attachments
- basic virtual coworkers and direct mention replies
Pro includes everything in Starter and adds operational power:
- ticket SLA policies
- email routing and reply-by-email
- people view
- task relationships
- comment summaries
- auto priority
- duplicate warnings while drafting new tasks
- daily repeats and repeat end dates
- advanced booking rules
- virtual coworker automation
How to assign seats
- Open the App and sign in.
- Open the workspace.
- Go to Settings.
- Open Plans & Seats.
- Click an empty seat to assign a user, or click a filled seat to remove the user.
Admins with Manage Settings can assign seats from any paid pool. They do not need to be the person who pays for the subscription.
How to buy Starter or Pro
You need Manage Settings permission in the workspace to start checkout.
- Open the workspace in the app.
- Go to Settings.
- Open Plans & Seats.
- Choose Starter or Pro.
- Complete checkout.
Another member can also buy seats for the same workspace. If you already pay for the same tier in that workspace, use Manage Subscription instead of starting another checkout for that tier.
After the first successful payment, the buyer is assigned to one of their purchased seats automatically when that seat pool has room and the buyer does not already have a paid seat. Admins can move the seat later in Plans & Seats.
How to change a subscription tier or seat count
Only the user who started a subscription can change that subscription, billing details, or seat count in the customer portal.
- Open Settings -> Plans & Seats.
- Click Manage Subscription.
- In the customer portal, change the tier or seat count.
If you pay for Starter seats and do not already pay for Pro seats in that workspace, the Pro card shows Upgrade to Pro. That opens a Stripe upgrade confirmation for your Starter subscription.
Non-paying admins can still assign seats, but they cannot open another member's billing portal.
Supported currencies
The checkout currency is selected from your region. If a local currency is not supported, checkout falls back to EUR.
Currently supported:
- EUR (€)
- USD ($)
Invoices and payment method
Open Settings -> Plans & Seats, then click Manage Subscription.
The portal opens only for subscriptions that you pay for. If you bought subscriptions for multiple workspaces with the same bnder account, the customer portal can show all subscriptions tied to that billing profile.
In the customer portal you can:
- view invoices
- update the payment method
- change a subscription's tier
- change the seat count
How cancellation works
If a subscription is canceled, the workspace keeps the paid features until the current billing period ends. After that, paid seats stop working and affected users fall back to Free.
To cancel:
- Open Settings -> Plans & Seats.
- Click Manage Subscription.
- Use Cancel subscription in the customer portal.
